Thanks so much for stopping by. My name is Emilee Gettle and my family and I have a real passion for preserving the wonderful history, which our ancestors have left to us. My husband, Jere Gettle, began an heirloom seed company when he was only 17. He saw so many varieties were disappearing and decided it was time to start saving what was left for future generations. So, each winter we send out our free seed catalog, which features over 1200 varieties of historic vegetables and flowers.
I love to try my hand at historic craft skills from weaving and spinning to sewing and basket making. I have a true appreciation for anything handmade. We host festivals at Bakersville, our historic pioneer village in southern Missouri, and provide a place for historic demonstrators to showcase their crafts. We desire to provide a place for these crafters to teach others so we will not lose these precious skills between the cracks of time.
I also edit Heirloom Gardener magazine, which began in 2003 to educate others about the virtues of heirloom veggies and flowers and the importance of preserving them. Recipes, exciting articles and vibrant pictures fill each page. I love graphic design and I feel so blessed to be able to share with others through this publication.
Being a wife, mother, home business owner, graphic designer, editor, critter lover and crafter does tend to fill my days to the brim. However, I count it a blessing to be able to do what I love and enjoy every minute of it.
Cherish Every Moment of Every Day,
